I’m excited that you are calling for an audit of the books. I feel a lot of city money is spent haphazardly.

It’s about time we know where and how our tax money is being spent.

    Thanks Stan.

  • Jim Richards Says:

Congratulations on your new PUBLIC webstite, Stan. We NEED such a place to voice our desires and needs and concerns and it certianly isn’t the City Council meetings which are “packed and loaded” against the will of the majority of citizens. I hope you get the word out Loud and Clear to all Tehachapi citizens that we now have a VOICE in our own governance.

Thanks for giving us this opportunity! I hope you get many thousands of comments here.

  • Sunshine Says:

Let’s get this puppy known so we’ll have a place to voice our opinions without fear of having our words taken off no matter how heated the debate gets.

  • Jim Richards Says:

Where are all the citizen’s questions and comments? This is a chance to have your own “bully pulpit”!

  • sunshine Says:

Mary you must be having an off day. Or, you are part of the Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm Glee Club. Your City Council is doing a lousy job. They have depended too heavily for too long on Jason Caudle and now this wuss Greg Garrett to tell them how to vote so they can rubber stamp everything and not have to do any work.

We voted for Stan so that he would open up discussions on issues and bring what has been hidden out into the light for public scrutiny. Your city council has something to hide or they would not have turned down an ‘investigative audit.’

At least Stan has the integrity to allow you to post your junk on his Web site and not remove it. He welcomes your input whether we agree with him on not on this subject.

Ohh, since you think he should step aside, are you willing to step up to the plate and run for office? Do you think you can do better? We have two running for office now, that’s Henry Schaeffer and Jim Richards. Make no mistake, DEBRA HAND and ED GRIMES are going to be VOTED OUT IN NOVEMBER! We are going to get some common sense back on our City Council.

  • Stan Says:

Mary you are welcome to make whatever comments you want on my Web site. Your voice hasn’t been silenced just because one of my supporters doesn’t agree with you. If you think you have something to “expose” me with go ahead. That is your right and I am providing you a forum to do that in. I welcome any further comments you may have.

Why Mary, thank you for telling staff that we are awesome. Or, did you mean only managing staff and not the office workers? We have to work with Greg on a daily basis and he treats us like servants so you’ll forgive us if we occassionally lapse into unprofessional name calling. You said a lot of words in your last statement but really said nothing at all. You are the one that came on this site looking for a fight. Don’t you think people can see through that?

  • sunshine Says:

So you don’t work at City Hall and you are ASSUMING that we have Stan stories to tell? Well we do. He has always been courteous and generous to us unlike the other council members. Oh, Ed is OK but he is doesn’t really have consideration for us. We are just employees and nothing more. Stan and his family have been here since the early 40′s. My parents knew them. And, are you threatening me by telling me I need to get out of town? Most of the council are transplants and I was born here. So why don’t you move along, as you said?

  • Carrie Says:

    Hello,

Just wanted to jump in here and include these quotes from Mary Bailey:

“name calling and empty threats rarely wins supporters”

“Vile and disgusting doesn’t win the race but it is entertaining”

And exclaim that Mary is name calling and being vile also so I don’t understand why Stan’s supporters are less superior than a non-supporter.

I am a transplant to Tehachapi and I have lived in several towns with a historical atmosphere that have done well.

Maybe because most of you have lived here all your life is why you don’t recognize what a bad job this city council does do.

I challenge you to visit some other small towns that are experiencing growth and see how their council meetings are managed and/or their tactics for building planning etc are handled. I guarantee you that Tehachapi does not line up with any of them. And that isn’t because Tehachapi has come up with a better solution.

Jump in anytime Carrie you are most welcome. Perhaps jimmyc can explain to us why the INTERIM City Manager is with holding information from the City Council and why does the City Council allow it? From what I have seen Stan does his homework on the issues and at least asks questions in public so that the public can understand the issues. When they happen to think up a question other council members sneak behind the publics’ back and call the City Hall to ask their questions. They don’t make statements in public because they know they would look stupid. You ought to hear some of things that they ask.

Funny jimmyc, I hear just the opposite when I speak to people about Stan. They say all those other people on the council are out of control, don’t have a clue, lazy, and just plain blind when it comes to seeing down the road. They laugh at how James and Garrett constantly get rooked by the out of town developers.

So jimmyc we’ll just have to see if you have what it takes to get the 830 some odd signatures you’ll need to get your petition on the ballot. No duplicates now and they all have to be voters in the City of Tehachapi. Let’s just see if you can do it. If you can’t you’ll be the biggest laughing stock in town.

Not to go off topic but the Tehachapi News is so biased, in case you didn’t already know. They give free advertising to so many businesses but then reject others and I’ve even talked to them about it before…they were basically pretty rude and said, it’s our paper and our blog, we’ll do what we want.

Well, that’s true but there is a user agreement (for the blog). We even wanted to run a paid print ad in their paper for our website Wheres Tehachapi, which isn’t even a newsite and they wouldn’t run it just becase people can comment on it. Check out the site and tell me just why the TN paper couldn’t run a paid ad for us. Outrageous!

Just like the City of Tehachapi in general, the Tehachapi News can’t follow any rules either…they all have to be crooked.

  • sunshine Says:

Seems like Stan is being much maligned on Jim’s TN Blog by the “Gang of Four”, who in my opinion are Reed, Hand, Grimes, and Garrett.

Pretty amazing that they think this shows good character on their part. Shane needs to re-think his strategy.

  • Carrie Says:

Well, even if Shane and/or the Gang of Four does succeed at what they are doing I know that they will have to answer to the Lord one day…all we can do is make sure that what we are doing is with a good, pure heart.

  • sunshine Says:

Carrie you are absolutetly right. But, I have found that the Lord quite often makes people answer in the here and now. We’ll keep the pure heart and let, “Revenge is mine sayeth the Lord” happen. In my experience it always does and in his own time.

I’m sorry to hear of everything that has happened. I hope you will once again offer your great service to the community.

  • Carrie Says:

I have to disagree with Mary about the Tehachapi Police. I’m not the only one either. Check out this blog at the TN to see how many other people do not think the TPD is doing great….http://www.tehachapinews.com/home/Blog/bohammond/26971 and read the comments from the readers.

There are more comments like this at the TN, just search “TPD.” I personally have witnessed them driving like maniacs for no good reason, that doesn’t make me feel safer, or safe at all, while I have my 2 children in the car driving on the same road as they are.

As far as downtown looking great, it is better than it was, but it’s not great. Frankly, I think the compass in the middle of the intersection is lame and they could have spent the money on something better. I’d list some thoughts but to do so is a waste of time since what has been done is done.

The speakers downtown that play music, noise pollution. It’s rude and it interrupts private conversation on the streets. It’s also intrusive, as I have emotional attachmennt (some negative) to certain songs that I have heard. If they are going to play music it should be instrumental only so I don’t have to talk over the lyrics.

  • Sunshine Says:

Hi Mary, how’s George? And, is it still “A Wonderful Life?” No one cares whether you’re Shane or any of the other Stooges. You are out of touch with reality. Downtown looks better, but still not good. And to what purpose? Mayor Hand and her friends made it look good to serve their own selfish purposes. They didn’t have a plan in mind to increase tourism to bring in badly needed dollars to Tehachapi to benefit those downtown businesses. They just wanted a pleasant walkable community to serve themselves. Just like they didn’t have a plan for the Depot once it was restored. Now Mayor Hand’s business is failing and she can’t figure it out. As for the city staff, we are great, IF we could get some capable managers. Garett is ignorant and arrogant. He has had failure and fiasco one right after the other. And, David James still thinks he can bring more revenue to the city by giving the builders the key to the city. Hasn’t he figured out yet that the housing boom is over? Our leaders have been a joke and your in the stands applauding. Certainly from your perch of outside looking in you know it all don’t you? Try being on the inside. Then you might be qualified to give an authoritative opinion.
